Bringing the citizens of Canyon Lake together for the betterment of our community.
Jen is a native Texan and was raised in South Texas on a farm where her father is the 3rd generation farmer of the land. After high school, she attended Texas Lutheran University where she met and married her husband, Mike. She finished her studies in Business and Communications at the University of Houston in Clear Lake. They lived the first four years in Galveston where Mike attended Medical School, and then Syracuse, NY, for three years while he completed his residency. Once complete, they high-tailed it back to the warm weather and wonderful town of New Braunfels where they have settled, raised their boys, worked hard, and enjoyed life ever since.
Serving the community has always been a priority for Jen and her family. Since moving to Comal County in 2006 the Crownovers have relished the opportunity to serve with numerous volunteer organizations and several important community initiatives. It was through these endeavors that Jen had the opportunity to meet with many of our public leaders and learn the inner-workings of our county government. As her interest grew so did her passion and, seeing an incredible opportunity to step up her game and serve Comal County and her wonderful communities in a larger capacity, she made the decision to run for the open seat of County Commissioner. Jen and her family live in the Canyon Lake area. She and her husband (a physician and military veteran) just celebrated their 20th anniversary this year, and they are blessed with two sons. Reid is in college, and Boogie is a student at Canyon Lake High School, and is active in FFA and Scouts.
Paul is a long-time, part-time resident (since his birth in 1957) and now a much happier full-time resident (since 2017). He loves his old rock home on the Guadalupe river, taking the dogs for walks, driving through the hills and exploring all the Hill Country has to offer. He has such a love for this area and its precious resources that are Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe river. He passionately believe these lovely resources need our help in order to be preserved and enjoyed for ourselves and generations to come.

Native to New York, Theresa moved her two young daughters to Canyon Lake in 2003. She then opened her insurance agency in Sattler a year later. After years of hard work, Theresa invested in other businesses - River Sports Tubes and Goofy's Bar and Grill. Her love for her community has led to not only business investments, but many different community efforts as well. As an owner of different businesses that thrive on not only local patrons but also Canyon Lake's thriving tourist season, Theresa understands the need for community involvement in order to keep Canyon lake and its surrounding area up to date and maintained so that it may be enjoyed by all for many more years.
Theresa and her husband Mike enjoy traveling when they can, throwing events at Goofy's and relaxing at home with Curly the cat.
Jenny Rendon is a native Houstonian but has called Canyon Lake home for the last 13 years. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing at Houston Community College in 2003 and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University in 2009. Wanting to transition into the role of Advanced Practice Nurse, she went on to receive a Master’s of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University in 2014 where she studied to become an Adult and Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with an Intensivist subspecialty. Later, in 2015 she received a Master’s of Science in Health Care Ethics from Creighton University’s College of Medicine. In 2020, she graduated from Yale School of Nursing with a doctorate in nursing. Currently Jenny is an assistant professor at the University of the Incarnate Word.
As a health care provider, Jenny believes that the residents of Canyon Lake deserve a community with resources that provide opportunities for the residents to achieve optimal health. The lake, its dam, and its parks provide the residents of Canyon Lake with the best opportunities in the area for wellness activities and working to preserve these resources is her service to the community.
Margaret has been visiting Canyon Lake since 1990 when her in-laws retired here. She and her husband Tom bought their first lot on the lake in 2000 and in 2018 moved permanently here from Houston. A move they both are glad they made! Margaret is a Chemical Engineer by degree but has worked as a project manager late in her career.
A love of the outdoors and feeling connected to the community is what drew Margaret to be a part of the DCA Board. She and her husband run across the dam and swim the length of the base regularly. Keeping our lake accessible and encouraging use of our parks are priorities that Margaret will continue to support. Canyon Lake is a beautiful place to live and visit!
Born and raised here in Canyon Lake (1977), Angela Hemphill resides on the Northwest side. She moved away shortly after high school but could not find somewhere that held the beauty and serenity like Canyon Lake did in her eyes. She gets the privilege of serving the community as the Chief Financial Officer at Canyon Lake Fire/EMS as well as a Paramedic which is where you might have seen her. When she’s not running spreadsheets or running calls on the ambulance, she enjoys spending time with her kiddos, grandkids and friends.
Mark has been a full time Canyon Lake resident since 2016 and has been visiting the area since 2009. He invested in his first property here in 2011 and began providing vacation and permanent housing across the area. He has enjoyed the area's wonderful outdoor opportunities, especially swimming and boating in the lake and river. Many enjoyable hours were spent walking the shoreline and trails with his dogs. It is this love of the outdoors and wildlife in this area that drew him to be a member of the DCA board, hoping to preserve and share this experience with others. Far gone is the chemical industry and city life of Houston; traded in for the peace and relaxation in this hidden oasis
